Jane Birkin's quote about Attenborough is right on.
I'm with teebs - this makes me as weepy.
I hadn't heard of several them, and this Birkin quote really struck home: "Everything I wear doesn't put me in the league of women. If I were a boy, I could look a lot prettier than a lot of boys I know."
Here's my contribution: Shirley Jackson. I am fascinated by her. The Wiki entry describes her work as dark and "macabre," but she wrote an autobiographical story about living in rural Vermont with a bunch of kids entitled Raising Demons and Life Among the Savages. It was perfect. I think she died relatively young and was haunted by anxiety and depression.
Oh, this is very cool. I'm going to have to come back to this post and read more about these people...preferably when the kids are asleep.
