Sugar Cookies
Some of them have lemon icing to cover the burned parts. I baked these to test this new recipe before I serve them to guests. It is a good thing that I did this. A very, very good thing. Don't let their little round sugary cuteness fool you; they taste like golden baked hockey pucks.
I'm hoping that if I bury them in the back of the refrigerator and forget about them, they will magically turn into chocolate cake.

Yes but the icing! Very much not huckey puck-like... what was the recipe for that.
And have you ever done a cookie exchange? I'm loathing the thought, because I don't want to give away my peanut butter balls.
Oooooh, cookie exchange! I like that idea! I need something like that to light a fire under my ass so I will actually bake cookies this year. I usually make the ones with the Hershey kisses stuck in the top. They're wonderful, but they make your teeth ache.
Those cookies look very pretty, even if they don't taste so good. I think the trick is the make them decently thick so they don't burn so easily. But I readily admit most of my baking results are hit or miss.
The icing, alas, is Betty Crocker's, straight from the tub. All of my icing attempts have resembled sweet, clumpy paste.
I will definitely make the cookies thicker next time.
The cookie exchange is a great idea. Maybe the next time Dooce and Finslippy and all the other famous ones gather for the BlogHer conference at a nice hotel in San Francisco, we less popular bloggers can hold a cookie exchange at a motel in Schenectady. Hey, it's a start. And we'll have peanut butter balls and Hershey's kiss cookies. I'd even beg my mom for the recipe for her delicious oatmeal almond cookies.
Okay... this is totally off-topic, but doesn't Mrs. H remind you of Cate Blanchett in her role as Queen Elizabeth (I'm thinking the picture on the bottom left, in this link)? Such a striking photo - good choice!
Wow - I have never been so flattered in all my life! When that movie came out I entertained that hope that I resembled Cate Blanchett, but the sad reality is I look more like Tabitha Soren (see http://www.chixinflix.com/tabitha_soren.html, because I do not know how to link).
But thank you just the same!
And I agree that we should do a less popular blogger G2G. I've never been to Schenectady, so it could be a fun treat! In the meantime, are we serious about a cookie exchange? I'm game if anyone else is. I love to send stuff through the mail, and I love cookies. It's a win-win for me.
VERY Cate Blanchett.
I picked Schenectady at random. We could do Honolulu instead...
And I'm game for a cookie exchange.
